I am generally positive on In From The Cold, and think it's sad that the reaction probably discouraged them from deviating from MSQ norms again in future. However, IFTC is not without issues. The quest is not good for accessibility, especially as launched...
It's all "I want WOL to get hurt more" until it happens in a way that's cool and interesting and actually questions/confronts WOL's agency, then it's an affront to the MSQ and "unsafe" for players. See also: the 4.0 scripted Zenos fights, In from the Cold, literally anything to do with Ilberd,

The problem with the forced Zenos losses is how obviously scripted and arbitrary it is. If you mess up and lose the fight before you're supposed to, the game slaps you on the wrist and says "try again," and if you execute the fight perfectly he just stuns you and knocks you out in a cutscene.
