Among research participants with metabolic syndrome, those who successfully reduced sedentary time by at least half an hour showed improvements in metabolic flexibility and fat burning during light-intensity exercise compared to those who remained highly sedentary.
Just 30 minutes of less sitting each day can improve energy metabolism.

Reducing sedentary behaviour can be particularly beneficial for people who are physically inactive and have an increased risk of heart diseases and type 2 diabetes.

New study shows that just 30 minutes of less sitting each day can improve the body's ability to utilise fats and carbohydrates for energy production.

Lisäksi vois koittaa ehkäistä sitä työpäivän jälkeistä aivosumua esim. pitämällä taukoja ja liikuskelemalla jo työpäivän aikana.😊👍
Last week I was fortunate to participate the world's largest #MultipleSclerosis conference #ECTRIMS2025 What an astonishing experience! Three days in lovely #Barcelona with more than 9600 participants! 🤩 ectrims.eu/ectrims2025/
On Thursday, 25 September 2025, 16:30 - 18:30 CEST at #ECTRIMS2025 poster session 2,
I will be presenting the poster P733
"Serum Glial Fibrillary Acid Protein Associates with TSPO-active Lesions in Multiple Sclerosis Brain"
Come and meet me there! 😊
Serum GFAP associates with TSPO-expressing lesions in #multiplesclerosis brain.
#GFAP is a blood soluble marker for #astocyte activity, #TSPO is a mitochondrial molecule expressed by glial cells and elevated in #inflammation of central nervous system. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

Yesterday I visited the #Bengtskär lighthouse for the first time in my life! ❤️Thank you @inflames-flagship.bsky.social for an inspiring and refreshing Summer Day -event! I heard inspiring talks in #Kasnäs, had some lively discussions with colleagues and a lovely day at the sea!
Successfully reducing daily sitting by at least half an hour may improve metabolic flexibility. @utu.fi onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
➡️ The association between a high prevalence of TSPO-expressing white matter lesions and high serum GFAP suggests that lesion-associated glial activity promotes MS progression partially via astrocyte-driven mechanisms. 3/3
✔️Serum GFAP is a protein that can be measured in blood and is associated with ongoing astrocyte-related pathology in the central nervous system.

✔️TSPO is a mitochondrial molecule that is expressed by activated microglia and astrocytes. 2/3
Notes from the weekend: the lime hawks (mimas tiliae) are reproducing. Also, the nordic orchids are blooming. 😊
One week to go before summer holidays! 🏃‍♀️

This is wery interesting! Especially for me, who is still, a couple of decades after ACL reconstuction, still strugling with VM weakness. However, for me, remnant weakness of adductor and semitendinosus muscles are even more apparent..
#APSselect study from Journal of Applied Physiology finds after ACL surgery, brain and muscle changes may cause lasting quad weakness. Early use of large motor units and lower brain drive could be contributing factors: ow.ly/koMK50VNcY4 CC: @apspublications.bsky.social 🧪
