"It may not be much comfort for those bitter about what they see as a needless surrender. But there’s at least a chance that we’ll look back at this moment as a key turning point, one that produced a Democratic Party less willing to live on its knees." — @paulwaldman.bsky.social
Cue the rebellion
The Democratic base is enraged at their party's capitulation — and that's a good thing.

McGovern: He would rather appeal to the highest court in the land to starve people than simply provide them with the food assistance that he is legally obligated to do. That is the Republican policy position. We will give you your food if you let us take away your health care.

My God, what a horrible, pitiful, defeatist, tone deaf, and just plain…WRONG thing to say. Retire now @SenAngusKing if that’s how you feel. Retire now and put someone else in your place who will stand up to the fascist in the White House.

Senate Democrats need to hold the line. No healthcare, no deal.

Mainers want a Democratic Party that fights for them, not one that rolls over.

When we fight, we win.

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.

The talking point they came up with is so lame and pathetic. Yes, insurance premiums are paid to insurance companies. Yes, the subsidies help low and low-middle income people afford to pay them. That’s how the ACA works. Just admit you want to raise premiums on 22 million people.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 95th day out of the last 107.

12 days of work in 107 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

That was a 2-year-old girl's reaction when she was hit with tear gas deployed by nearby immigration agents as she played in a Chicago park.

A Chicago mother tells NBC News she and her 2-year-old were hit with a chemical agent. Many residents say the city wasn’t a “war zone”— until immigration agents swept through.

Conservatives have spent years weaponizing “protect and think of the children” to great effect.

It is odd to me that there seems to be no plan of action from the regime for the consequences *actually violently threatening the safety of children in public view*.

Also, they’ve pretty much killed CHIPS and Science, the largest domestic manufacturing bill in recent history.
