I will say again that it has been just *beyond* hammered home for me that not only do we not live in a meritocracy, we live in an economic and sociopolitical order that actively rewards avarice, incompetence, unkindness, dishonesty.

Unfortunately capitalism forces them to. Lots of ppl have 0 paid sick leave. Rent’s going up. Lots of jobs that punish absence. Some people LITERALLY cannot afford to be sick/stay home w/ a sick child. Sadly, the system makes people choose between health & survival. Best we can ask is wear a mask!
