Fengbo, once a brother of the war god Chiyou, cuts a striking figure in early Chinese #mythology.
With a deer’s body patterned like a leopard, a peacock-like head crowned with horns, and a serpent’s tail, he embodied nature’s wild unpredictability. As the wind deity, his form mirrored his 1/2
🎨 The Wind Deity, by Shan Ze. In the battle between Chiyou and the Yellow Emperor, Chiyou summoned Fengbo and the Rain Master, causing a storm that disoriented the Yellow Emperor's forces. The Yellow Emperor countered with a clever formation and a compass car, ultimately defeating Chiyou. Subdued by the Yellow Emperor, Fengbo willingly became the wind's guardian deity. As the vanguard of the Heavenly Emperor's tours, Fengbo clears obstacles. During tours, the Thunder God paves the way, the Rain Master sprinkles water, and Fengbo manages wind information, regulating festive weather.

In Chinese #folklore, parting beneath a willow tree carried quiet meaning. A host would snap a twig to gift the traveler, as a symbol of memory, resilience, and the hope of return.
Willows, able to take root from even a single branch, spoke of journeys that might bend but not break.
