The book that radicalized me was Silent Spring by Rachel Carson about the cumulative dangers of the pesticide DDT used on crops. Carson exposed the environmental disaster that was happening to wildlife due to DDT. She was called hysterical and a communist by gov officials and critics.

'A Sand County Almanac' by Aldo Leopold a classic in environmentalism I read in grad school. His words still apply today.
"We abuse land because we see it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect."

I believe corporations are responsible for destroying our #environment. But, I am a great believer that the avg person can make a difference. Don't sit wait for these greedy corporations to care about our env. They are doing everything to maximize profits. They wont change. It's up to us.

Sad about the #anglerfish ? Here is how you can help:
🌊 Avoid single-use plastics. Invest in metal straws
🌊 Support ocean conservation orgs/nonprofits
🌊 Reduce your carbon footprint
🌊 Reduce consuming seafood (farming and overfishing problems)
🌊 Use reef safe sunscreen
🌊 Spread awareness

I will say it again: 🌬 Unchecked capitalism is destructive. It pollutes the air and water. It contributes to habitat loss. Protecting the environment does not aid in maximizing profits. More #SustainableLiving is needed. Start small.

There is a war on science. Today #NASA needs your support 🌌🚀
The Planetary Society strongly opposes the sudden, indiscriminate dismissal of more than 1,000 scientists, engineers, and explorers at NASA — the largest involuntary workforce reduction since the end of the Apollo program.

Facts over feelings.
FACTS:
✅️ We cannot survive without nature.
✅️ Healthy ecosystems provide clean air, water, and food.
✅️ Protecting nature means protecting us.
✅️ Habitat loss affects biodiversity, which includes loss of ecosystem services like polliantion
✅️ You cannot eat money.

The reason hunters care to conserve animals is to ensure a a good population size to hunt them. I always thought it was ethically wrong. I took a wildlife management class in grad school and unfortunately hunters poured a lot of money to "conserve" species #WWF
