TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

For me, 2025 has felt like a particularly heavy year ... and you might feel the same. So as we head into the holiday season, I wanted to share a few recommendations — books, podcasts, and newsletters — that encourage me, make me think, and remind me how hope begins with action.

What a lede on this story: Man who complained about narrowing a road in order to protect pedestrians, so much that the city eventually reversed the change, then kills a woman on that very road with his car www.washingtonpost.com/business/int...
America’s plan to protect pedestrians failed. A young woman’s death reveals why.
U.S. officials adopted Europe's Vision Zero initiative, but many cities have seen an increase in pedestrian fatalities despite efforts to improve road safety.

I realize I've been posting about my book a lot and want to share why 🧵
1. It's fucking hard to write a book and getting this one to the finish line with everything happening in my life has been a huge accomplishment for me. I'm excited.
2. Now is a hard time to get a book into circulation. Because
It tried to kill me but I have finished the book. Second pass pages read through, final copy and line edits done.

Please read my book. I worked very hard on it. 😭 (Also read Legendborn, as you can see from the background, I’m a fan)

🎁 For this holiday season, consider gifting COLOR TASTE TEXTURE! It’s a great primer for people of all ages with little to no experience cooking. If you have some neurodivergent friends and family, or parents of littles, they might love this! It’s not just a cookbook, it’s a new approach to food. 🎁
I’m an Autistic classically trained chef and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide titled COLOR TASTE TEXTURE, that’s all about finding out what works for specific sensory needs and how to customize food for them. It’s useful for all ages, no cooking experience necessary.
Color Taste Texture by Matthew Broberg-Moffitt: 9780593538593 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books
An accessible family cookbook that offers solutions rather than tricks to empower the food-averse, autistic, and picky eater, with 46 recipes. This much-needed cookbook combines tips and techniques.....
