Travelling through Vienna, Rome, Belgrade, and Toulouse, the film reveals how local stories mirror a broader continental struggle — one that intertwines political choices, market pressures, everyday life, and the long arc of social housing policies.

Amid a devastating housing crisis, The Great Together examines the trajectory of Europe’s Grand Ensembles. Once powerful modernist utopias designed to solve the postwar housing shortage, these monumental structures now face diverging futures: maintenance, transformation, privatisation, or demolition

Screening The Great Together, followed by a discussion with filmmakers — and Urban School alumni — Jasper Meurer & Rocío Calzado.
A journey through Europe’s Grand Ensembles, and today’s housing struggles.

Monday, 17 November 2025 – 5:00 to 6:30 PM
Room K008, 1 place Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin, Paris 7

We are honoured to host the world book launch here at Sciences Po, in a joint seminar by the CRIS and the Sciences Po Ecole urbaine/Urban School. A major event, as usual at Sciences Po: the worldwide launch of Sanyu A. Mojola’s new book,

The book brings intersectionality to its full analytical potential—linking incarceration, segregation, demographic dynamics, and the long political history of the U.S. capital.

Drawing on extensive archival research, rich hashtag#spatial_data, and more than a decade of fieldwork, hashtag#Sanyu_Amimo_Mojola demonstrates how racial, gendered, spatial, and political structures shape the production of health inequality.

Washington, DC is often discussed for its central political role, yet far less for what it reveals as a city: deep hashtag#racial_segregation, severe hashtag#health_inequalities, and one of the highest HIV/AIDS prevalence rates in the United States.

Monday at 5pm at Sciences Po: global launch of Sanyu A. Mojola’s Death by Design.
A powerful investigation of racial health inequality in Washington, DC.
