This reallly made me appreciate the visual language/cohesion across 2 seasons as 24 episodes. Great, great craftwork.

They’re killing people as a twitter joke. It’s depraved. Can’t let yourself lose the capacity to be appalled and disgusted and outraged by this.

Extensive delays on the @metraalerts.bsky.social UP-W line this morning, but of course Metra’s official website and social media don’t have any alerts out.

Can anybody parse this? It sure sounds like a Wharton Ph.D, and not Grok, is running this portfolio.

I just got around to reading this, and while I think you can quibble with his specific number, I think his overall point is right, which is: the price to participate in the economy has gone up by several multiples of inflation, and the social safety net hasn’t come close to keeping pace.
The U.S. poverty line for a family of four is $32,150.

However, investor Michael W. Green argues it should be more than four times higher, a threshold that would classify most American households as living “in poverty” by his measure.
An investor called $140,000 the new poverty line. Experts disagreed but said he had a point.
Michael Green’s tally of the costs of raising a family in the U.S. today is going viral, even if some economists scoff at his math.

How many times can a person post, per day, before it’s fair to assume they are either unemployed or not actually doing their job?

Between this and “Epstein’s victims weren’t that young,” she’s been on a heater lately.
Megyn Kelly on alleged war crimes: "I really do kind of not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they're on the boat or in the water, but I'd really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out."

The model effects in ALIENS are so effective you don't realise that they're using puppets in the final boss fight on the Sulaco. It's so well done, will pitch perfect lighting that marries the marionettes with the full-size action superbly.

These physical effects are a testament to talent.

Is Silver Linings Playbook a Thanksgiving movie? I’m pretty sure it ends on Christmas, but it’s full of football, Fall, and family drama, with a bunch of scenes where everyone come back to mom and dad’s house for a meal. Pretty sure it qualifies.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you

I liked the new Running Man movie, but the ending felt like a combination of a production running out of money and a studio enforcing a specific running time on it. Cannot think of any recent big budget movie that ends quite like this.

I’m not saying he played the game of his life, but he threw a touchdown, ran in another, extended plays with his legs, and ran for a handful of first downs. Meanwhile, his receivers dropped 5+ passes. I’m not sure what anyone else could have done with that O-Line and those receivers.

We know from Soderbergh's viewing log that he spent the better part of a year studying STAR WARS movies, which I guarantee you hacks like JJ Abrams and Shawn Levy never did, but go on.
There is nothing fans are more enamored with than a movie that didn’t get made.

It is only potential. It exists only in your mind, where it always made the exact right choices. It didn’t violate your narrow sense of canon. It is only what you love about the franchise, and it can never fail you.
You could almost call it the Rise of Solo. Or maybe A New New Hope.
