You know who understands risk? Actuaries. And guess what they're saying: "... the plausible worst-case hit to global economies would be 50% in the two decades before 2090."

I'm bad at budgeting, can someone tell me whether 50% is a lot?
Global economy could face 50% loss in GDP between 2070 and 2090 from climate shocks, say actuaries

As @janrosenow.bsky.social has shown, Britain's reliance on gas for heating shackles us to the fossil past and to higher bills. Getting gas out of our homes is a win-win-win and a no-brainer - but it requires robust government support.
This is a mistake. New homes should be built using heatpumps and expired boilers in older homes replaced by them certainly from 2035 if not before. (The deadline is set by the climate system and basic physics) www.theguardian.com/environment/...
UK government scraps plan to ban sale of gas boilers by 2035

Climate change and El Nino were the two key reasons 2023 was so record-breakingly hot.

But scientists struggled to explain about 0.2C of the warming last year.

A new study suggests fewer clouds may explain the puzzle.
