#7 There's no "Pick up where you left off" button in the browser version of Word. #WhyMicrosoft

#6 When you highlight a word in one color, decide it doesn't need to be highlighted, so you revoke the highlight by clicking the "no color" option, then change you're mind and go to highlight it again, you can't use the original color and must use a different color. #WhyMicrosoft

#5 Ctrl + left click doesn't allow you to select multiple parts of your document in Word Online. It's annoying if you want to highlight different sentences that aren't beside each other, and it makes it harder to check your word count when you're making revisions. #WhyMicrosoft

#4 I need to use the Word App to edit my book on OneDrive because it's "read only," though I never set it to that.

#3 I saved one of my books in Word, the app, to OneDrive. I had expected that when I opened up the document in Word Online, there would be no changes. Most of the page numbers have disappeared, the layout of my title page is off, and many paragraphs have lost their indentation. Why Microsoft? Why?

# 2 Word Online, or whatever it's called, tends to set my alignment to justify when all I did was hit "enter" for a new paragraph, then "tab" for an indentation. I've never had this problem in the app, nor in Google Docs. To have problems with such basic functions of a word processor is frustrating.

I've switched to Word Online recently and I'm not a fan.
#1 It's slow. Right now, I'm typing at about the same pace I do while working on a book, and Blue Sky has no trouble keeping up with me, but I have to wait for it to catch up, particularly when I'm typing fast and then go to delete words.

Formatting in Word at first is a mind shattering torture that will leave you incapable of intelligent speech. But once you understand how to do it, after regaining your sanity and ceasing to curse Microsoft, you'll appreciate the control Word gives you over you're book's format.

I made a few dollars off of my book without running ads! It's a small win, but when you're a new author you got to take as many as those as you can get.

Challenging circumstances are opportunities. Be grateful for being pushed to achieve something you wouldn't have if things were easier.

An outline is like the pirate code in Pirates of the Caribbean, it's more of a guideline.

What's the difference, in your opinion, between a villain and an anti-hero? Anti-hero is such a broad term that I'm questioning whether it should be used to describe any fictional character.

Social media: We'll give you a couple hundred characters for you to write a post.
Me (an author): Can I negotiate for a couple hundred words, instead of characters?
SM: No.
Me: I would like to speak to the manager.
SM: I'm sorry, sir, you went over the character limit. Please write another post.

Writing a book description that will sell is easier than writing a novel. Well... that's what I'm telling myself as try to write a blurb that will sell.

Very funny!
In the bookshop this morning:

PARENTS: “Okay, we’re leaving now.”

CHILD: *pulls another book from the shelf and sits down *

CHILD: “Then I guess this is goodbye.”

How do you define fantasy?

If you want to help someone who's an author, particularly someone who wants to be a full time writer, it's simple: tell people about their book. The author will thank you with their undying love and gratitude. Maybe a cookie too.

People say non-fiction is harder to write than fiction, but I disagree. In non-fiction you're dealing with facts, so you already have an idea of what you are going to say. With fiction you have to make up the facts and think about how you're characters will interact with them.

I turn off Amazon ads over the weekend because I wanted to retarget them. Then I look today and found a KU reader read the whole book on Sunday (thanks whoever you are). Go figure.

There are three types of writers in the world:
1. Those who plot
2. Those who don't
3. Those who are one of the two and wish they were the other
Which are you?
