Today marks the UK release* of @tkingfisher.com's latest book Snake-Eater, which (depending on how you define it) is her 50th book of fiction! In honor of this milestone I wanted to do a little retrospective of her 50 books

Out for an evening walk and I just saw a coyote! First one I’ve seen in this neighborhood since moving here a year ago, so cool!

Which made me wonder: @tkingfisher.com, how hard was it not to have Coyote show up in the climax in Snake-Eater?

@tkingfisher.com Gaaaahhh, Ursula! How could you do that to Merv?! I thought named animals were safe!

...you better not do anything to Copper

@tkingfisher.com Reading Snake-Eater (and loving it so far) but now I want to know if you ever got that Talavera toilet you said you wanted for the new place, or if you're just living vicariously thought Selena for now?

@tkingfisher.com I know authors aren't always the best source on this, but do you know what the release date for Snake-Eater actually is? I've seen both Nov 11 and Dec 1 (a monday?) listed in different places (and occasionally both in the same place (thanks goodreads))

I think my favorite thing about "every city reveals its inner character" era of ice protests is that people keep saying portland is weird or cute or nice or silly when one of the most common chants at the ice building is people looking up at feds on the roof and yelling "jump! jump! jump!" in unison
Portland resists with whimsical improv theater, Chicago resists by screaming at weird jagoffs that don’t belong in the neighborhood. Every city brings its own strengths to the fight
The energy we need is this suburban dad standing out in the street -- barefoot with Blackhawks pajama pants on -- screaming at the masked goons to get the fuck out of their neighborhood.

“What kind of cake do you want for your birthday?” I ask the hubby.

“An apple pie,” he answers

Me: …

Ok, let’s learn how to bake an apple pie, why not?

It’s not fair that my 2 fav authors, @tkingfisher.com and @seananmcguire.bsky.social, both have a new book out on the same day; which one am I supposed to read first??

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

This is a very very close second, though

Now that I finally finished it and gave it to Ursula at RCCC, I can post the painting I did based off this photo!

(Please excuse the very sad background, painting cactus spines in watercolor is beyond me)

Spoilers for Hemlock & Silver!

Because my brain is Like That, even when I love something (like this book) I always notice when there are bits left loose, and wanna talk about them with someone, so since no one else I know irl has read this yet I'll yell into the void (ie post on bluesky)

Reading @tkingfisher.com's Hemlock & Silver, and so many thoughts!

The cover with accurate poisonous plants (hemlock and belladonna and oleander and foxglove! Also berries, a fern, & some sort of conifer(?), and I can't quite make out the flower behind the M) fills my plant-nerd heart with joy

And people say you don’t learn anything from books nowadays: just discovered thanks to @tkingfisher.com’s newest, Hemlock & Silver, that another name for Jimsonweed/Devil’s Trumpet/Datura is Thorn Apple - I knew I recognized the flowers in the endpapers!

@tkingfisher.com why must it be your horror novels that you use your gift of prophecy on?
