Both of these upcoming cohorts are sitting at about 1/3 full with a week to go.

I'm really puzzled as to why registration has been so slow.

Somewhat in desperation, there's now the code SIXTY you can use for 60% off registration.
My course about birding & creative code is also secretly (shhhh) a course about critical data thinking.

Which is one of the most important skills you could possibly cultivate in this age of AI and misinformation.

Autumn cohorts start September 23rd... join me?

Next up at #outlier2025, Zan Armstrong introduces diagnostic charts - the middle ground of really useful charts beyond simple “explore” or “explain” charts - some fascinating science-inspired examples!

I've checked the box on "despair." Guess it's time to "get back to work."

Inspired by @albertocairo.com's advice, in this new EffAff post, Gabby and I consider how simple visualizations 📊 of social change might encourage resilience on the path ahead.

Check out @itseieio.bsky.social's brilliant talk on games, connecting strangers, and how some very smart teens subverted his code and touched his heart ❤️‍🔥

This course not only introduced me to the world of birding but also reignited my interest in creative coding! It taught me what a fun/creative/supportive coding environment *could* look like, full of whimsical sketches and whacky ideas. Would highly recommend!

Love this!
First generative texture hat is done - next one will have another variation to the code(spiral or cable)

I really enjoyed week 1 of the recurse center and am excited for this week.

project 1: Map Designer, a #dataviz tool and @figma.com plug in that simplifies the process creating and customizing maps in Figma! Had a lot of fun learning how to translate d3-geo's svg paths into Figma's vector networks.

try it out and let me know what you think! www.figma.com/community/pl...

I'm going to run through all of the regional variants. One of the magic parts of this project is that while the code base is the same, the natural geography of the place and the human habits of the birders means they're all different in form and color.

Ready?

This one took a bit of work, but really like the quilting feel of it. Took my earlier #Generative #linocut and added half size stippled black triangles. Rotation of the stippled triangles also set by the roll of a d4. #GenerativeDice #dataart #dataviz 📊

📊 Two of the things Luisa Vasquez (@vluisa.bsky.social) loves are reading and sewing.

So, when she saw a way she could combine her two loves while sprinkling in some data viz, she had to document her process in creating a quilt visualizing her 2023 reading list.

This quilt was created using the data from all the books I read in 2023. It measures roughly 11×16 inches, was assembled on my sewing..
