Councilwoman Lopez’s statement on today’s Supreme Court decision allowing ICE to resume discriminatory raids that terrorize families and neighbors under the false guise of public safety
Santa Ana families are in danger. ICE is targeting our community — at work, in the streets, in our parks.

Our loved ones are being taken. This is unforgivable violence.

We need to protect each other.

OC attorney says she was detained in ICE raid at Santa Ana park
The Daily Journal has more journalists covering the California legal profession than any other publication.

Our communities have the right to be safe — not targeted. When a president punishes cities because of their party affiliation, that’s not law and order, that’s political retaliation. We will not be silenced, and we will not back down.

It’s one of his favorite things—browsing old movies, searching for cassette tapes, getting his watch battery replaced, or just being out there.

But yesterday, I asked him not to go.
Because they’ve taken even our simplest, safest places.
Happy Father’s Day, Pa.
Happy Birthday, Ma.

On any other day, I wouldn’t think twice about my dad heading to the swap meet.
No businesses were looted. Graffiti was cleaned up immediately. All on-the-ground reports confirm the protests were peaceful. I will not stand by while young people in my city are criminalized for rightfully expressing their anger and sense of betrayal by this country.
And I call on my colleagues - who like to point fingers - to set aside personal egos and recommit to our shared responsibility: protecting our residents, standing up for civil liberties, and doing the real work of keeping families together.

I showed up to express my concern about the federal government’s overreach & to defend the rights of my community.

I invite the mayor to reach out if she has genuine questions or wants to better understand what’s happening in our neighborhoods.
I was proud to stand alongside my constituents—peacefully, lawfully, and unapologetically—exercising my First Amendment right to protest a growing militarized presence in our city.

I showed up to make sure people were safe… 1/1🧵

Great TikTok by Santa Ana city council member @votejessielopez.bsky.social about what you can do to get involved and be safe. “This really is the fight of our lives if we are going to allow this dictatorship to prevail or not” www.tiktok.com/@votejessiel...

ICE is tearing families apart. No due process. No justice. Just fear.

📢 Know your rights. Protect each other. Show up.

I stand in solidarity w/SEIU & demand the immediate release of President David Huerta, who was detained and injured while serving as a peaceful community observer. His courage reflects the very best of our movement.

We will not allow this administration’s cruelty to go unchecked.
Let’s be clear: ICE injured and detained the president of SEIU California for peacefully observing.

ICE picked the wrong side. The wrong state. The wrong person. and the wrong union. David Huerta stood up. And now 750,000 SEIU workers are standing up behind him.

We are proud of President Huerta’s righteous participation as a community observer, in keeping with his long history of advocating for immigrant workers and with the highest values of our movement…

Time to prepare, beloveds. If you are considering stocking up, remember that these pills do expire eventually, and *do not* discuss your actions online or via unencrypted communication. Take no shit, and leave no trace.

I’m proud to stand with UPTE, AFSCME 3299, the OC Labor Federation, and all the workers rising up to reclaim their voice.

Because when workers rise, we all win.

On this May Day, we’re not just marching for dignity and respect.
We’re demanding fair pay, safe working conditions, and a future where working families can thrive—and afford to live—right here in Orange County.
Today, I marched again—this time not as a kid cutting class,
but as a public servant, a daughter of working-class parents, and a worker myself.
But even as she snatched me up, she knew I was learning something powerful: The importance of standing up for our community.
