Heathrow airport closed: more than 100 flights diverted after substation fire causes power outage - live
Travellers warned to stay away amid ‘significant disruption’ after fire in Hayes causes power outage * Full report: Hayes fire sparks major power outage It’s going to be a chaotic day for some travellers with flight tracking website Flightradar24 saying that at least 120 flights in the air bound for Heathrow will have to divert due to the airport closure. Scores of flights are already being diverted to other airports, with Qantas Airways sending its flight from Perth to Paris and a United Airlines New York flight heading to Shannon, Ireland. Some flights from the US were turning around mid-air and returning to their point of departure. “Heathrow is experiencing a significant power outage across the airport due to a large fire at a nearby electrical substation. Whilst fire crews are responding to the incident, we do not have clarity on when power may be reliably restored. “We expect significant disruption over the coming days and passengers should not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport reopens. The word haunting every Syrian right now = Partition
March 1, 2025 at 7:17 PM
Worrying news about possible IDF intervention in a Damascus suburb. Family and friends all worried about attempts to partition the country. This is probably the most dangerous period in Syria’s history 😞

First morning of Ramadan. Feeling okay so far but missing not having a coffee. Glad I woke up before sunrise to have some food and water.

I'm not surprised Trump & Vance sold out our allies, our values, our way of life. I've known since inauguration that the country as we've known it for 250 years is dead. But today's disgraceful display in the Oval Office was like watching the autopsy. Disgusting.

Time for revolution & rebirth

What President Zelenskyy endured today is what Syrians had faced from most of the world for the past 13 years - “why don’t you make a deal with the person who is trying to kill you”. There are some things you can’t compromise on 🇺🇦

Good on Zelensky for not letting himself be cowed and bullied and for standing up for his country ❤️

I have never seen anything as disgusting as that. Genuinely no words.
BBC News now has the footage on their live page - you can rewind slightly to the beginning of the broadcast from the Oval Office if need be.

Watching the humiliation of Zelensky in the White House by Trump and JD Vance is cringeworthy and utterly shocking. Putin is loving this.

We will rebuild our country. We will educate our children. We will fix what is broken, and heal what is harmed, Israel and Iran won’t break us.

The utter weakness in Syria today on the economic, political, and military levels are all because of the disastrous Baath & Assad family era. Over fifty years of murder, corruption and oppression

On the morning of Nasrallah's funeral spare a thought for the Palestinians of Yarmouk and the Lebanese who had been forgotten in Seydnaya prison for over four decades. All of whom Nasrallah didn't give a damn about when he supported Assad in his brutal repression
