Gardener / beekeeper? What weird stuff is the love of your life tolerating? Me: Dead plants (seeds drying), cuttings of plants in jars, an occasional queen bee inside kitchen cabinets, tinctures, 5-gallon honey buckets, 1,000s good bug larvae/eggs (in fridge) we install to avoid spraying anything… 🌱

I've wondered for a while if our bees in the states abscond due to prolonged dearths in the summer and fall. Could they all have a migratory instinct and could it be triggered by such conditions?

It is also thought that St. Gobnait's (a wonderworker and patron saint of the sick, bees, and beekeeping) bees were related to the ones Modomnoc brought from Wales.
When Modomnoc left #Wales to return to his homeland of #Ireland his bees followed him overhead. He returned the bees to St David's monastery but they followed him to the port a 2nd & 3rd time. Finally, David gave his blessing; introducing bees to Ireland for the 1st time💫

Today is the feast day of Saint Modomnoc of Ossory, a patron saint of beekeeping. He kept the bees at the monastery while he studied under St. David of Whales. When he was to travel home the bees flew out of their hives to join him on the boat not once, but twice!
