Last night, the wind took out a rather large pine tree shortly before I got to this section of road. There were ~8 people w/3 chainsaws, a leaf blower all working to get this cleared, had it passable in 15 min. Not sure if it was neighbors or a tree service, but impressive either way.

Was at the drugstore and noticed they make Tylenol PM now.
I hear it’s popular, but I don’t understand why anyone would buy this.
I want my headache fixed NOW, not in 3 quarters when it can get me on the roadmap.

Y'all, I know two hours is a big time commitment, but this panel I arranged and hosted last month is one of the most important things I've ever done for video game history. The launch of the NES is a crazier story than most people realize, and my guests were extremely generous with their memories.
Hear about the NES US launch 40 years ago from the people that made it happen: Gail Tilden, Bruce Lowry and Lance Barr with @frankcifaldi.bsky.social from the @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social moderating! Panel recording at youtu.be/f2WDfsiLiRA

i’d also say that the GOP’s obsession with this gives candidates an opportunity to articulate and stand up for their values. “i refuse to make anyone feel like they don’t belong in my [state/city/community]. and i want everyone to live the best life they can achieve [insert policy slogan]”
I am taking particular pleasure in the complete collapse of trans-as-unbeatable-wedge-issue narrative this morning. It might be an 80-20 issue in voters minds, but it has to be on voters minds to matter. The results in VA demonstrate that it is very much not on voters minds.

I didn't want to jinx it before but now that AP has called it, I expect there to be a number of "Winsome Losesome" headlines in the VA governor race.

While I'm ranting about time change, you don't notice how good your brain is at unconsciously knowing the approximate time based on daylight & routine, even accounting for the seasonal difference in hours of sunlight, until The Switch basically makes that internal clock flash 12:00 for several weeks

Only a minority of my clocks have to be manually changed 2x a year now. It annoys me more than it should that one of them is my 2 year old, GPS and Internet connected electric car, which sets the time automatically but still requires a manual ticky box to toggle DST

Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

Oh man, I totally forgot to post about this when they presented it as an option last time i was ordering (for my kid). Simultaneously cool that Zenni is doing this and seriously dytopian panopticon shit that this is a real thing that normal glasses-havers would be willing to pay for.
We tested out Zenni's anti-facial recognition glasses coating. It actually (kinda, technically) works? "ID Guard" adds a pink sheen to the surface of the glasses that reflects the infrared light used by some facial recognition cameras. So, only threats like that

These anti-facial recognition glasses technically work, but won’t save you from our surveillance dystopia.

This is what computery discussions sound like to non computer people. In other words, "I know what those letters mean individually, but not when assembled in that particular order."

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
