Book enjoyer and Libby hater
Important update: New plan is to give this up. Doing this during November has always been ridiculous, and for me especially this year. But I did try out Reedsy, so that’s fun! Might continue with it
great news: this hasn’t happened so far. terrible news: i’m behind on my word count
I'm going to get into trouble and do the Reedsy novel sprint this year. I'm extra excited because you can't copy and paste anything so that means if I do get the urge to write in a notebook or whatever I guess I have to just type it all in the middle of the night or something

I will say this: “Library” is not always the answer to book piracy. Sometimes a library will never get a book, whether that’s because of Amazon restrictions on availability or library pickiness or you’re the only patron who wants it. Sometimes the answer is: You don’t get to read this book right now

@thestorygraph.com I still think this is a good idea that cannot POSSIBLY go wrong
I think StoryGraph should introduce a feature where if someone actively rates a book 3.0 stars and then in their review says “2.5 stars rounded up” because they’re copying their GR (not mass importing) I get to personally edit their review to reflect their actual star rating and add a rude message

this is still happening
Not enough people are haters of the things I want to see haters' thoughts about and too many people are likers of the things I hate

Sometimes I wonder how you people see all these stuff you’re mad about and then I realize you’re not exclusively on the Following page

okay bluesky has got to be one of the dumbest social media platforms. everyone go back to tumblr where borzois get inexplicably flagged as potentially mature. it’s also stupid there but we know they aren’t doing it on purpose.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Hurts to see others living your dream (writing a bad book but other people think it’s good for some reason)

You might think that you eventually grow up and put away childish things but I tell you I spotted the Backstreet Boy IMMEDIATELY. Twelve-year-old girls are eternal.

Anyway now to finish reading the thread
If you go to their website, you'll see the D-level celebrities they've made clothes for, most of them conservative commentators, YouTubers, or professional combat sport athletes (also Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne). I asked Dimitry if these people paid for their clothes. He wouldn't say.

Connections has the stupidest categories ever. Leopold Bloom isn't even a real person

Instead of giving Stranger Things finale a theatrical release, how about just expanding the release of Guillermo del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN? 🥺

I love going on Tumblr because I can go there and see the most amazing takes. Today they told me that jewelry isn’t art

I wonder if my library knows I’m using Transparent Language…like do they get stats…does line go up…

Thinking of starting a new free online literary zine (hosted on Tumblr, naturally) called The Epistle to Enoby, where the one strict requirement is that all submissions must be epistolary genre fiction. Horror encouraged, others welcomed. Everything subject to my whimsy and caprice (undescribed)

I just found out that the Apple computer mouse emoji is their hateful bad magic mouse and I believe it is time for us to destroy Apple now

The other problem with Libby, of course, is that it sucks and is bad and they should never have spent months replacing my beautiful wife OverDrive with it for no reason

People were mad about the Libby hold change but no one is mad about the real problem with Libby: hold slots and loan slots should be the same. What’s the point of having all my hold slots taken up and all my loans free if I only want to read the books I have on hold

- Me: Scurvy all the way.
- Me: wait, that’s vitamin C.
- Me: I’m so dumb.
- Maureen: They can get that too.

It used to be you got sent beautiful engraved invitations for protests in the mail. Nowadays you’re expected to RSVP online and half the protesters just show up without even doing that much. Kids these days. SMH.

One of my first reactions to the "RSVP to the protest" thing was: "Lol I would not do that how about if you RSVP to my BUTT." But then I thought..."RSVP to My Butt" sounds like a @chucktingle.bsky.social title about people who are very excited to make intimate plans. And I think that's beautiful.
