My parents have a picture of me at 7 years old pounding a nail into a 2x4, "helping" my parents build our house. I'm pretty sure I made more progress on that board than good ol' Dave here. Fuck, man, I don't know. Maybe just go find a scrappy looking 2nd grader....

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

this is genuinely wild
Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.

I know it's a new national pastime to move to Seattle and then shit all over Seattle. It's gloomy. It's expensive. We're all frigid bitches. I get it. But, like, it IS gloomy, it IS expensive, we ARE going to silently judge you if you say "Pike's Place," so......

If I could possibly skip the days I roam around the house doing fuck-all because I'm trying to bite off more than I can chew instead of breaking the problem down into chunks because I won't admit to myself that I'm just one person and not a whole-ass writer's room.....man, I'd get that framed.

Dude. Boo.

With respect, @petebuttigieg.bsky.social, you got this one wrong. Bruce Harrell might be nationally recognized, but locally, he's been actively working against affordability in Seattle until *checks watch* about three weeks after he lost a primary to Katie Wilson.
Pete Buttigieg backs Harrell for Seattle mayor
Although Bruce Harrell has won the support of mayors from around the country, Buttigieg is by far the most well-known endorsement from outside of Washington.

Hold the line, Dems. If my health insurance is going to go up 75% (which it will because I’m self employed and on the exchange), I want it to go up NOW, not quietly 18 months from now when nobody’s paying attention.
The federal government shuts down in 8 days.

Democrats are fighting for a funding package that reverses Trump and Republicans’ health care cuts — but they're refusing to negotiate.

Trump and Republicans would rather shut down the government than give you health care.

200+ pages into a second draft, I'm thinking again about how the world of a novel (and the voice you write about it in) ideally gets stronger and stronger as you write. A problem I'm always thinking about: The day you're truly prepped to start writing a novel is probably the day you finish it.
