When Norway implemented a 78% Fossil Fuel tax everyone said the private companies would pack up and leave rather than pay that much tax.

Instead Shell, BP and Equinor fight each other for contracts.

They won't leave even if they get only one penny, they are too greedy.

The inherent problem with specifying that a particular domestic policy area is less important than a diplomatic/trade relationship, is that it means any domestic policy is in theory expendable on the same basis. Like violence against women, or housing, or poverty. #auspol
