Awful: Pentagon officials told lawmakers Trump now claims authority to bomb people merely “affiliated” with “narco-terrorist" groups, Rep Adam Smith tells me. But under questioning, they wouldn't say what “affiliated” even means!

Lots of fresh info in my new piece:

We've completed all games for Monday, September 24, 1973. There are only 6 days & 64 games left in the season!

A's take the opener in the final head-to-head series with the Twins, which increses their lead to 1 1/2 gms. Twins really need to take one of this series.
The fact that dogmatic religionists (of all stripes) and atheists insist on anthropomorphizing natural processes does not make that the appropriate thing to do, nor does it deprive natural processes of the possibility of a meta-consciousness the human intellect is incapable of parsing.

For what it's worth, after this series, each team will host an AL West sub-.400 team. A's hosting the White Sox (61-95), Twins hosting the Angels (62-94).

And yesterday the Mariners pulled a bases-loaded, 2-3 double play. I suppose I must have known at some level that this was technically possible, but I don't think I'd ever seen or heard tell of such a play before. Doesn't come up on my unusual plays chart!

A predictably brilliant breakdown from Jomboy -- it wasn't an unassisted double play, though, just a wildly unlikely one that I cannot imagine any board game could reproduce...

Dodgers almost hit grand slam, ended up with ZERO runs instead, a breakdown
