“In a typical week, relying on a car more than 50% of the time for out-of-home activities is associated with a decrease in life satisfaction. This implies that at high levels of car dependence, there are negative implications that outweigh the benefits of car-based travel.” ssti.us/2024/12/09/t...
Too much driving is bad for society, new studies show
It turns out trying to expand the freedom of the open road has its limits—when taken too far, it can end up driving people apart.

saw someone make an apt point re: ‘why hollywood can’t do smartphones good’ about how we as consumers have so much inbuilt shame around internet/tech use that we prefer content that ignores that reality. perhaps it’s less genuine ignorance and more feigned to appear morally superior
every musical is just 1 guy, miraculously hated by everyone, on a quest to achieve popularity & prove he was sexy, talented & cool the whole time
after seeing my 99th ‘X is a Christmas Movie’ post, I finally understand what the Grinches deal was.

me at 17: what if people think i'm stupid
me at 37: they all know i'm stupid but there's nothing they can do to stop me
fall guy has the most brain rot idiotic script I’ve ever had the terror of encountering. it’s drivel created in a lab purely to be liked by the lowest common denominator of film-goer.
I’m using most of my mute options to block cat pictures, fandoms, certain blonde girl boss pop star celebrities. Is that an echo chamber? Would someone shame me for blocking off my media options? Or do they just want access to people to be racist at them.
de centralised internet spaces are basically non existant nowadays. blocking and muting is as close as we can get now. who cares if someone has an echo chamber, what do people think friend groups are ?

congratulations to Dave Franco on the hit movie of 2026!
gosling had it for a while there but that stunt man movie he did rly tanked his rep there for me. I think the barbie popularity might’ve capitalism’d his brain
like I have no problem with any particular groups of people but i also have 0 interest in furry art or the discussions around it and if you can tell me a way to remove it from my feed I would never complain about anything again. Muting & blocking has yet to help
I appreciate the sentiment but my block list is all ‘Taylor Swift,’ ‘cats’ and ‘Anime’ and yet that is ALL I can see on my discover page. People don’t always tag or explicitly mention with key words the things they post, and algorithms are gonna algorithm.
the problem on here I am realising is the people with the funniest posts have the most insufferable personalities

The gem of a theory that garlic is to cooking as vanilla extract is to baking in that the amount you add to your food is guided by reckless extravagance and utter disregard, verging on mild contempt for the recipe as written.
This is the ONLY funny version of these x is a Christmas movie posts

The CEO of an amoral health insurance company has been assassinated, leading to celebrations from an angry populace, moral debates, and a citywide manhunt. Critics are calling it "preachy Oscar bait that wades into heady topics without much to say about them". 49% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sorry to be the one to tell you but rejoicing about bad guys being murdered is one of humanities oldest forms of entertainment.
There’s a whole Friends episode about that. Once again, Pheobe Buffay shows a Simpsons level of precognition.
Saw X had none of the spirit of its predecessors, just some of the big name cast imo. But I’d love to hear your opinions! im always open to someone yumming my yuck (or validating my hatred)
scummy in their business practices but they clearly has justified it by compartmentalising (a thing tonnes of normal people do, without necessarily being scammers) they had normal affection for each other, & the main protagonist boss fought very hard to save them. You FELT his guilt 2/?
I personally despised Saw X - very odd choice to try and make Kramer (even weirder, Amanda) a hero. I found the scammer antagonists were cartoonishly villainous which is a huge disservice to a franchise ABOUT the nuance of human morality. Compared to VI where the insurance workers might all be…1/?
