hey, indie game dev here! working on a turn based rpg called Panic Attack! that's ultimately about getting the gang together for one last adventure... inside someone's mind. Also expect random stuff at times. #rpg, #indiedev, #indiegame, #PanicAttackRpg

as mentioned, I've been working on a lot of different stuff, thanks to basically "smedium" rebooting the project. I've got a few issues still before I know I can confidently move forward. Once those are fixed, I'll be back to showing off the game. so I'm gonna holler at some folks for some ideas.
outside of gamedev, life's been... interesting. within a few months time, a whole dynamic (that'd been set for over 7 plus years) changed... now I can say I saw the same person, who doesn't live at my house, 7 days in a row. human relationships are weird and I dunno what I'm doing this time at all.

so I've had so many ideas over the last six years working on this game, and I think I finally got the best combo of em on every front. best story, best battle plan, and best use of the loop. only thing now is to fix the levels to varying degrees. lol that all said... ugh finally.

I'm pretty excited to show people more once everything is back on track. as mentioned, I've been somewhat rebooting everything with a stronger vision. but I've mostly done behind the scenes work and just generally engaging with my personal life more. but I'm almost ready...

this "everyone's magically a game Dev" era has gotta end. or at least everyone preaching game design... stahp. my thing is people keep getting upset about games not playing how THEY want, but never just stop and say "I'll move on as this isn't designed with me in mind"...

Some of what's changing (in case I didn't mention it)...
1. Battles - Mostly Mike by himself with summons.
2. Exploring is now looking to be Mike going from 1 end of the city to the other, BUT there's branching paths.
3. I'm gonna redo or edit most of the music to be more consistent.

here's a bit of what I've been working on. Getting 88th Street and Century Park together. when you start the game, you start at the Bantam Apartments complex. you can take a path to either area. it all ends at the high school and Principal Heiman.

sorry I've been so quiet lately. Definitely got a lot going on. redoing a lot of the gameplay and level structure... plus my personal life is getting fairly complicated right now.

double dragon revive... is a game. the song for the Williams boss fight is amazing. it is otherwise a video game.

too many... unlimited saga, ff 13, the adventures of batman and Robin (Sega), sonic CD (JP), 3rd Strike and 2nd impact, metal gear solid 2, Darkstalkers 3, Blazblue, Tekken 3, 4 and Tag 1... etc

so one thing in battles for rpg maker MZ I just accidently realized was AMAZING, was if you're using YED Sideview Battler, A. it works without the patch now. B. because Visustella Action Sequences are common events now and most of it is plugin commands, you can STILL use custom motions from YED.

1. Mike "mostly" fights alone now, but has access to concepts/ideas of his "friends" that he can summon.
2. Mike starts with 2 actions a turn because his will is strong enough that if he believes he gets 2, he gets 2.

I've been quiet for a while now. I've been working on a lot behind the scenes for the game. basically gave it a decent sized reboot to gather my thoughts on the project and HOPEFULLY finally aim in a direction that works. the AuHD is really making this tough, but I got this.

while I know my game has a visual identity, I feel I doesn't really have a gameplay one. especially outside of battles. but then again, it's a turn based rpg. but then again, because of the sidescroller design, I feel I need to rethink exploring cause I feel like there isn't much

I think I know what my biggest issue is with rpg maker mz... it's soooo hard to manipulate windows. stuff is changing finally, but any custom UI stuff feels like an utter nightmare. be it in battle (especially) or normal menus... "good luck". problems I've solved in MV, way worse in MZ.

May Robbins... The new mystery girl in Mike's apartment complex. She moved to Autumn Bay from Summer City for a reason. To get away from the big city and a certain riot causer.
She loves science and gaming... and has an experiment in the works.

While I've been showing some of what's new with stuff outside of battle, it'll be a bit before I can show that stuff again. it's getting completely revamped from the ground up. Basically I'll be redoing everything (outside of the sprites). I'll be getting on that as soon as I get all my ideas ready.
