I don't know if it was better, but at least one could have access at a different perspective and way of framing knowledge and setting the debate. Now we have a dominant format (the argument-driven, name-dropping, content-poor article) and not much else.

Well, we spend millions in making one of the safest transportation mode around, metros, marginally safer against fire (not against falling into the track, which is the actual danger). We are too busy doing "paper safety" to actually care about real people getting injured or dying in the real world

Giorgia Meloni as managed to consolidate the conservative block, but she hasn't expanded it beyond the 45-50% of voters it mobilized in the past under various formats. What she has been good at is keeping a more institutional tone while still flirting with the usual themes of right wing politics.
