Aww, but I want to see Erma's Epic Yarn!

Lol, isn't that the best way to be a religious studies scholar? Seems pretty arbitrary to study a subject that you've already set your mind on...

Yeah, y'all are definitely closer to the precipice, could drag the rest of the western world behind you though 🤞

It could be something.
You're an artist, It could be ✨ anything ✨
(FR it's a fun idea but it might appeal to a somewhat narrow niche... It could evolve into a Slowzo though, for what that's worth)

Yep, same in Aus, the two main choices are right and centre right, our greens party wins a seat here and there thanks to instant runoff voting, but we still have a long way to go before people realise how much better we could do. (Probably bout 30 years or so 👴)
December 2, 2025 at 4:42 AM
Same here, I have trouble imagining what it would take before people stand up, you'd have thought that being forced to work through a deadly pandemic or watching capitalism turn into fascism in real time in front of your eyes would do it, but apparently not.

Better solution would be to tax the everloving daylights out of land owners and hard cap rent at like 5% of minimum wage. Watch how fast house prices would fall. But again, nobody in power actually wants to achieve that at all
December 2, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Housing is the clearest example, simple supply and demand says that just building more housing would lower the price, yet the Aussie governments will propose literally anything else as the solution to keep that price as high as possible because all politicians are also landlords.
December 2, 2025 at 1:26 AM
Re: the rent, UBI has to be pegged to cost of living in real terms for it to work, which inevitably makes the prices for everything just go up indefinitely. Turns out the only function of money is to deny people access to things. Food Libraries would be a better solution, but "who will pay for it?"
December 2, 2025 at 1:24 AM
Yeah, that's the basic issue in general right? even though we in theory have freedom to choose, leftist movements are battling uphill because we don't have the same access to the means to influence voters. There's literally lessons on capitalism baked into the school curriculum.
December 2, 2025 at 1:24 AM
It just takes too much imagination for most people to accept a solution outside of money, especially since it will feel to many like a personal sacrifice at first.
So we start conditioning our world to be more equitable and rely on capital less and build out from there (in theory, anyway)
December 2, 2025 at 12:12 AM
I'd say that the first battle towards justice will be to loosen the grip of the capitalist power structures with things like billionaire taxes and UBI, we're not going to convert people to leftism overnight, but it turns out people don't like starving, so we start there.
December 2, 2025 at 12:12 AM
That may be where we diverge in opinion, I actually do believe that all power structures are bad at a fundamental level.
That doesn't mean I disagree with your goals at all, but in my mind capitalism isn't the last problem to solve.
Issue of semantics, but that's the conversation we're having 😅

Wow, I'm on a wall! 🤍🖤
Glad you like it 😁

One of the hardest parts about advocating for socialism (much less communism or god forbid even anarchism!) is that the capitalists have made their words the good words and ours the scary ones, so people switch off emotionally before they ever understand what we're talking about.
December 1, 2025 at 11:29 PM
I still feel like that could be open to (wilful) misinterpretation, you and I know that capital includes connections, education, access to public resources, influence in government, etc etc; but in the "who's going to pay for it" argument, capital=house. It's tools of the enemy stuff IMO.
December 1, 2025 at 11:29 PM
I've learned to replace "money" with "power" because it disentangles the BS. Also because I've observed capitalists sacrifice profit when it represented a loss of personal power/control/ego (better that *I* make $10 than *you* make $100 for me)

Like all LLM functions, it's good at telling you what it thinks you want to hear, it will only "critique" an artwork as much as I would my preschooler's drawings (if indeed it correctly interprets what it's seeing at all).

Ah yes, drug prices and healthcare like never seen before *laughs in Australian*
This is a deeply unserious man being allowed to continue because his antics make a convenient shield while he and his cohorts brazenly loot the country they represent for personal gain.
