The signature campaign has continued around the world, with a renewed aim to undo prejudices towards him and the Kurdish peoples struggle for existence and freedom. We have tried to correct misinformation and to educate society about the truth of the struggle and its events from its beginning to the pre-sent. As a result of official colonial policies, Ocalan and the Kurdish people have been cast in a poor light, and even criminalised in much of the world. It has thus been important to find creative methods and exert effort to counteract this negative propaganda. It is time for the European states to enact policies that recognize the political, social, and cultural rights and standing of the Kurdish people. In addition, despite the oppressive conditions in Rojava and other parts of Kurdistan, we are happy to say that many ordinary Kurds have recently joined the campaign. In Turkey in particular, people have yet again been arrested for collecting or giving signatures. Yet many inspiring and brave people have come forward to support the campaign. It was possible to see people from many nationalities in trams, in front of universities, or in city squares and shopping centres collecting signatures. Some found methods to make their signature collection more creative. In Sweden, for example, those who gave their signatures were given a lemon with the word "terrorist" written on it. Why? Because, in Turkey, whoever was caught with a lemon was immediately arrested as lemon juice was effective in counteracting the burning effects of pepper spray used by the Turkish security forces against protesters.
