.... It's a brilliant photo from almost a century ago: whatever your starting point, your eyes are taken on a journey to his face, and then sent off on a voyage over the sea.

It is hard to imagine that this forgotten little valley, hidden away behind Hipperholme Cross Roads, was once one of the premier northern leisure resorts of Edwardian England.

This is a moment that will be remembered a long time; the day a car came to Halifax, or was it Elland, or maybe Brighouse.

.... My "Prospect Of Brighouse" managed to capture a slice of history, however: all those mill chimneys, St James Church in its glory, and not a supermarket in sight.
