The exhibition illustrated how native plant species that slowly disappear from heavily managed land find a haven in Cornish hedges. Combined with the museum about ancient Cornwall, I was blown away by the confluence of Nature and human history!

After two days of digging, sorting rocks, and packing in soil, us three trainees managed to complete two layers (a.k.a. courses) of the field hedge 🥵 "It's like pieces from a thousand jigsaw puzzles, and you have to make them fit" says our trainer 🙇

I like to think of these strips of trees and hedges as "highways for wildlife". Outlining farms, roads, railways, running along streams and backyards, they can link large wild areas together, allowing animals to safely move through the land...
