Little Lion cub enjoyed watching Kingdom last night.

So, voles not moles?
A grey pointy nosed rodent running along straw and compost in a green compost bin. All nice a fat on my onions. A plump pointy nosed rodent trying to dig through a green plastic compost bin wall in a panic, despite there being no wall just its length away on its left. Silly thing probably drunk on its own made vodks from my potatoes.

Digging out my compost bin and found mole tunnels. (Probably a loop).
Quite dry compost with lots of sticks* in a green container. It's been hacked away at by me to spread over the allotment. At the bottom, just above ground level, there are two tunnels around 30° to each other. *Hey, it's my first attempt, I'll make sure it's less dry next year).

Today's harvest.
Teaspoon for scale and, later, for tea.
On a black hob, from top to bottom A short but very plum butternut squash that is still a bit too green ti be picked but it is evident from the withered stalk attached that it had to be taken up. Around 20 quite large Brussel sprouts. One lonely floury potato that I found hiding whilst digging my compost in, next to a teaspoon.

Belated halloween costume from TimyPuppy.
Fluffy the Vampire Slayer.

Another dead snake.
Around 30cm long.
At first I thought it was just a skin, but it's too lumpy and juicy.
Probably a grass snake?

A couple of weeks ago the open-air pool near us opened its gates on the last day of the season to dogs.
TinyPuppy had a field day, so much swimming, so many other dogs and dog friendly humans, even our old dog trainer.
He wants to go back.

The farm, and cows, under discussion. Taken from my kitchen balcony.
A steep hill, with housing on the bottom half of the photo going up the hill. The top 3rd of the hill is steeper with pasture and copses and a forest runs along the top. On the right of the photo a pitched roof is in the foreground and between tge roof and a fall thin tree there are whitish specls on the top of a field. These are the cows. The farm buildings are behind the roof.

True. The farm up the hill grows & sells it's own soy. It also harvests a lot of hay and maize, and pastures it's cows 9 mos per yr on 20° plus land, so yes, these cows are foddered with soy, but it's not imported.
Same is the case for most cattle farms in Switzerland (more maize than soy).
Bags of soy beans for sale on a shelf. Below the shelf are photos of the soy plants and a scale. Also, at the edge some wonderful peppermint syrup which I bought, along with free range eggs (from hens also foddered from the farm's own products). I don't do raw milk, even here, or I'd buy that too from their coin opperated self service tank next door to this cupboard sized honestly box shop.
