it's not just that they feel entitled to an explanation from someone when Google is right there (or they could just keep moving) but it seems like they're genuinely unused to seeing anything from beyond their own immediate world. How does anyone use the internet like this??

Tbh, by Week 11 of teaching I'm largely indistinguishable from a hologram.

I’d forgotten that issue, my brain may have suppressed it!

I looked up his actual comments and he also recommends smaller portions for short men!!

I was taught to do it in college but was *very* bad at it. Memories of panicked scrabbling on the floor for the teeny scrap of tape containing the word “hello”, mistakenly cut off and then trying to splice it back in!

Oh yes me too, I’d forgotten that! And also make change from the till drawer of any amount without having to consciously think about doing it - I can also still recall that £/€3.88 uses the greatest possible range of coins!

but also:
1) physical 'sending of the fax'
2) damn thing jams halfway through
3) unjam fax machine, send again
4) repeat steps 2 and 3 several times
5) recipient phones to say pages 23-27 of 200 page contract did not send, please send entire document again.
6) repeat from step 1 again

She’s younger than me, and that’s v alarming to me!

If a kind person would compile a list of non-infuriating history podcasts, I’d be v grateful. The zone is now so flooded with shite/uninformed ones that I avoid the genre altogether for fear of having a high blood pressure moment on my morning commute cos I can’t remember now which are the good ones

It really does!
December 6, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Oddly that does make sense to me, even tho my 70s childhood was in England and so devoid of Coconut Creams!

As an aside, I just checked as she’s only 50!! And yet you’re right she comes across like a Boomer grandma who’s spent way too much time on Facebook. A really tragic figure tbh
