I'm gonna nominate Ninja Gaiden, F-Zero, Final Fantasy (though maybe that's already just prog metal anyway), Deus Ex, Okami, Persona (holy shit the transition), Baldur's Gate, and E33:CO as worthy contenders. This dude is my kind of nerd.

OMG it's even a Petrucci signature Majesty in the opening frames... this is very much my areas.

When my dad was my age, I was 22, and had 3 younger brothers. WILD generational shift for us.

Oh and a new Fed Chair. Right, yes.

Generally quite amazing how many of these new tech disruptions don't so much revolutionise society as rearrange which powerful person gets a turn on the marionette strings.

Has something happened in BTC that I've missed? (I've noted some volatility in the value, but I mean like, a heist or a new gov't purchase or something?)

Anyway - this weekend feels odd. Not as busy as I'm used to. Nothing urgent. Time to reflect and appreciate those facts. I hope you all find at least one weekend this year that compares.

Next semester I'll only be teaching two units I've taught before which hasn't happened for me in YEARS. Maybe I'll have a chance to improve my methods?! Maybe I'll be a bit more present for my family, spend some time on projects at home. Anything could happen!

The academic year is winding down and I'm in an unfamiliar period of calm where I can rest and recuperate a little--rather than panic about finding another casual/adjunct contract, or whether the higher powers will simply stop funding the institution's deficit and close it.

Also worth noting that so far, I have not seen anything so profound here in Australia. I think there's a peculiar sort of apathy in the USA right now. Not saying it's perfect here, just not as pronounced as being described.

Circled back to read this whole thread and, yes, all of that. And yes to three cueing - wanna see how much I agree with that? well here's this: flickeringcolors.com/making-sense...

Yep. Very good thread, but as I noted in my quote, I think it goes back farther than AI. We were primed to accept AI because we'd already annihilated the expressive meaning attached to text. It comes from nowhere, means nothing, and doesn't matter.

We have WRECKED our ability to relate either through postmodern deconstruction of all possible preferred interpretations to expression, or through the constant, endemic, profound lies that constitute most of the "texts" that people encounter on a daily basis.

Sounds very entertaining - authentic and engaging I think.

I actually love those recorded presentations that are illustrated on a whiteboard in "real time" (absolutely not actually real time). And actual real version of that would be great! And also fun!
