And so I weep for America, as I can see no relief from the surveillance state that has already been unleashed.
I urge my American friends to be ready to *ACT* for your own safety & in support of the resistance & liberation efforts that are required.

*Every* success I’ve had in foiling the illegal & illiberal efforts of such men has stemmed from a willingness to be a whistleblower (only once did I have to do so).
But such an approach requires a functioning, independent judiciary who uphold the fundamental rights of the People.

Those like me who value the privacy & regulatory obligations as *equally* important with public safety duties find ourselves labelled as troublemakers, obstacles, neurotics, etc., and efforts are usually made by the “men of action” 🤮 to restrict involvement.
They succeed when Legal turns its back.

That is, the panopticon is *already* here — the genie is out of the bottle and can’t be stuffed back in by increments.
So now it is time to start *demanding* answers to the age-old question:
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
(Who watches the watchers?)
The answer: usually no one — by design, or not.

Between these two realities, the inflection point we are experiencing (A”I”, facial recognition, mobile/autonomous/fixed wireless PTZ IP cameras, techbroligarch platform & law enforcement data scraping & consolidation) the fetters both privacy- & regulatory-related have been completely bypassed.

- for the last 2 decades, the “unassailable virtue” of protecting public safety has always a battleground upon which privacy & legal considerations are pitted against what technology can do, *especially* when such CIR plans are inadequately documented (i.e., undocumented & unconsidered scope creep)

As someone who’s been directly I nvolved from the InfoSec and comtech side of defence industry, university, and local government, my perspective is both complex and clear:
- it’s a good thing for any organization tasked with public safety to have well-documented and tested critical incident response

TY Tinman — you were always my favourite.
I’m hoping that there are enough QAnons + GOPers with a conscience, a sense of patriotic duty, or a long view of how supporting a CR w/o ACA:SNAP relief will affect their futures …
But I’m not holding my breath either: some of those can be bought off 🤬

Too few elected Dems are free of the oligarch class’ tentacles.
That means there’s probably a sufficiently large uniparty to make oligarchic nightmares come true.
Which fucking sucks for you folks & for the rest of the world.
Fight on, fight hard, fight dirty.
But don’t stop fighting.

Except our players also shovel the snow.

& we have public healthcare if we get frost bitten.
& we don’t have a tyrant in charge, nor a compromised Supreme Court, nor a government shutdown.
Otherwise, just like Bills fans …

What really happens?
1. Local citizens will foot the bill for vastly increasing local water supply capabilities: new pipelines, new water & sewage treatment plants
+
2. Additional warmer, dirtier water is released back into the Great Lakes watershed: more algal blooms = fewer fish = economic hit.

Batshit craziness …
My grade 11/12 physics prof took me aside one afternoon, as graduation approached, to try to convince me that “radionics” & homeopathy were real.
I held back a laugh to avoid putting my 98% at risk, went on to get my degree in physics & nuclear engineering, and still chuckle about him 36y later 🤦♂️
