Someone once remarked that Nina must have heard Glenn Gould and now when I hear the solo in “baby just cares for me”, all I can hear is his Goldbergs.

my first X-Men comic, my first John Byrne comic. I had no idea what was going on and loved every minute of it.

different era but Sinatra pretty much created the idea of a themed or concept album, in the 50's when he was on Capital Records.

What a woman!
I'll always remember this heartwarming goodbye hug when she brought the chimp back to his home in the jungle.

May you rest in peace, Jane Goodall 💔

Tonight, let's all follow Jane Goodall's nightly ritual: watch the sun set, with a glass of good scotch and a passion to leave the world a better place than how we found it. (Illustration by the great Matthew Dow Smith @matthewdowsmith.bsky.social )

if you’re at Word on Street today, check out the these fab (& exclusive to the festival) mini comics by Howie Shia, Kiki Hamazaki, Sandra Dumais @sandradumais.bsky.social and Rosena Fung @rosenafung.bsky.social at the Annick Press booth. Brilliant idea by Annick’s comics editor Serah-Marie McMahon.

i once heard that, pre-Bewitched, Elizabeth Montgomery modelled for a reference book of facial expressions that lots of artists in the 60's used, and thats why so many female faces in advertising and comics of that era look like... Elizabeth Montgomery. Can anyone confirm or deny?

tbf haven't seen it since it's first release but there's a couple of images/scenes that have stuck with me: "I'll give you the life of the mind"; John Goodman walking through the flames; meeting W. P. Mayhew/William Faulkner in the bathroom; the studio boss getting fitted for his uniform. so.. yeah?

despite what he says, it's the only movie that gives me that Barton Fink feeling.

heard him play with John Martyn in the mid 80's and his sound was like nothing else - alien and funky all at once!

never thought of that, thats fascinating! (Love seeing the white-out on Terry Austins work. He uses it for effects too. It's very cool)

oooh, i fancy the Samnee's, good shout there. The Byrne X-Men is fab, but it actually made me appreciate Terry Austin more. Honestly, he should have a title credit - his work is amazing.

Need to speak to Ben Urich...
