This is simple.

Canada has obligations under international law to treat housing as a human right.

That right includes the right to not live in cramped homes that lack sufficient space.

3.5 million people, as of, Canada currently live in an insufficiently small home.
I’m not smart enough to understand all the statistics in this article but from a story telling perspective the framing of this is… a confusing choice.

Is this merely about definitions of densification? That it’s an abuse of human rights to not let everyone live in 3,500 sq ft homes?
New MMI piece: We look at the 3.5 million people in Canada who live in a home that is too small to meet their needs, and how a mismanaged push by governments and urban planners towards densification is at odds with the human right to housing.

Anyway, Canada tried longer amortization periods for mortgages. At one point, you could obtain a 40-year mortgage. The end result was people being pre-approved for variable rate mortgages way beyond what they could actually afford, then buying more expensive homes, and prices just increased more.

We hosted an International Day at the office today, and I am extremely full of gulab jamun and tiramisu now.

Like, the Italian guys made homemade tiramisu and brought an espresso machine from home!

The one thing I do appreciate about the US is that no other culture I have ever encountered would produce a folksong where the devil challenges a kid to a duel in an obvious morality play about hubris and then the kid just absolutely kicks his ass and wins the fiddle

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

I have so little tolerance for pettiness and gossip, and if you're part of the group that's gossiping about other Swifties, then please grow the fuck up. My 9-year old is more mature than you losers.

That is all.

I want young people to know that adults don’t necessarily make good decisions. We hopefully gain life skills as we age, but sometimes all we gain is trauma and some people are starting from a baseline of having no fucking sense

Thanks to my colleague, my son will now be the owner of a limited edition SirYakari "Milion" hoodie. But shush, it's a secret.

SirYakari is a Czech YouTuber, who only makes content in Czech, and he recently reached 1M followers on YouTube. For a country of only 10M, that's a huge deal.

Politicians are going to tell you they care about veterans today, and tomorrow, they'll go back to ignoring the fact that many veterans struggle to meet even their most basic needs, let alone addressing the mental impacts of military impacts.

The amount that I care about somebody's precious view or parking when people cannot even afford a roof over their heads is zero.

I get what Libor is saying, and I also just happen to think NIMBY attitudes should be viciously mocked.
There's No Free Lunch. Tenhle princip ekonomie platí i pro dostupnost bydlení. O ní se hodně mluví, dokud se nenarazí na kámen, že i pro ni se musí něco obětovat.
