curse bsky and its lack of polls, but id love to hear your thoughts on this!

wrote it out in notes app since I didnt think itd fit lol, but it's about structuring my t4t au fics
trying to figure out how i want to structure t4t au. I currently have everything outlined as one big fic with an indeterminate amount of chapters, but the thing thats been bothering me this whole time is that the first 7ish chapters are very plot driven and happen within a very short amount of time (like 1 month) so it feels like a cohesive whole, and the rest of the chapters are just. A Bunch of Scenes I Want to Write. so my options are: 1. keep it as one big fic (a la The Spiral Staircase by tricksterlatte) 2. have chapters 1-7 as its own complete fic and have a separate series for vignettes (a la Playing Hero series by honeycorvid) where I don't have to worry as much about making everything a cohesive story bc itd just be a bunch of tiny scenes throughout the au

Muscle memory leads Ren right up to her apartment door when a small white rectangle halts her in her tracks. It’s exactly as Ryuji described: an envelope shoved in between the door and the frame. It taunts her—the ink color, the handwriting, even the placement of her name right in the middle is all the exact same as the first letter. Despite her mind reeling from its sudden appearance, she slips a hand into her purse, reaching past Morgana and grasping onto the envelope she knows is there. It crinkles in her hand. She doesn’t pull it out, as the touch alone is enough confirmation. This is no trick. This is a brand new letter. It takes Ren a few minutes to find herself alone in her room, envelope in hand. Ryuji and Yusuke asked her about her day and told them about theirs, Morgana fussed over her aching shoulder, and then Ryuji got worried about her. The whole time—despite how much she appreciates and loves how much her friends care—the envelope burns in her hand, just begging to be opened. She gets there eventually and now, under the same light of her lamp and with the darkness of night outside, just like that fateful night a few days ago, she tears out the letter and reads it despite her shaking fingers. A warm summer greets Ren by rippling through the loose skirt of her dress as she embarks on the short walk to the nearest station. The ride to her first job of the day isn’t long, but still she can’t help the muscle memory of whipping out her phone and pulling up the bookmarked tab of her browser app. One cursory glance later and she tucks her phone back in her purse, disappointed but hardly surprised. Nothing new, she thinks. Yet, she reminds herself. She’s a stubborn woman; she’s held onto the cutting and jagged shards of hope for years, she won’t give up so easily. Although she nearly did just a few months ago, until the clearest sign yet smacked the truth back into her. A bright and glaring sign to her — who cares if no one else believes her? Despite having just checked, her hand twitches with the urge to grab her phone and check the page again. Instead, the train lurches beneath her feet as it arrives at her station. Blowing out a slow breath, Ren follows the crowd through the open doors and focuses all of her attention on just moving one step at a time.
