Just a dude. Enjoyer of Economics, Aeronautics, Astronomy, History and Politics. I try to bring good vibes wherever I go and to remain humble. 🇨🇦
The corruption is so brazen lol

The UK is a low bar imo

Canada does not have UK pathology (Brexit fallout migrant crisis, great power nostalgia etc pushing electorate rightwd). Starmer is also an extremely weak leader, which is not Carney’s issue.

Carney is an arrogant technocrat. I dread him being Macron far more.
November 28, 2025 at 6:47 PM
I’m far more pragmatic than most progressives on much of this stuff and this is grating to me
November 28, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Excuse me if I don’t take everything lying down. Rolling back environmental protections, brazenly lying about military spending ($40B more than promised), rolling back taxes on billionaires… the US being trash doesn’t grant the PM 0 accountability
November 28, 2025 at 3:02 PM
… so you want me to vote for him, but expect nothing in exchange for my vote. Guess I’m just to be a rube?

If Mark Carney wants to reforge the Canada with my support, he needs to reforge it with my values. Otherwise go convince some conservative voters.

Pragmatism only goes so far.
November 28, 2025 at 3:02 PM
The “pivot the centre left party right” strat has not worked anywhere in the last 10 years globally. Centre right voters arent going to replace progressives in numbers and Carney is going to come out of an acrimonious fight with progressives completely shattered in BC and Quebec

But go off
November 28, 2025 at 6:24 AM
As usual, we vote for the centrists in droves out of pragmatism and are discarded after we are useful. I get the vibe we’re just to take the crumbs we get and be happy with this govt
November 28, 2025 at 5:37 AM
What you’re saying is true but you are ignoring politics. Progressives have been sidelined by this govt and have gotten nothing to show for it. Where is our quid pro quo? The business community, oil sector and centrists sure have the prime minister’s attention.

When does he speak to us?
November 28, 2025 at 5:37 AM
I think the fools errand here is thinking that this Albertan govt are negotiating in good faith. They are greedy and corrupt. They will renege. All that Carney will be left with is the proof that he can be made to compromise on his values.
November 27, 2025 at 6:15 PM
This could and should cause a schism in the liberal caucus. As written, this deal is a multibillion dollar pram toy to keep the corrupt and industry captured toddlers running Alberta happy and on side. Carbon capture as a tech has no value but pacifying oil barons.

King shit mate. Keep doing you

We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

Lmao Filipino politics never slows down huh

Most welcome. Have a great day Liz!

In any case you deserve all the flowers you’re getting for this one. Great work from you and the team at @theverge.com

My favourite writer strikes again.

This article is so good that it’s inspirational and makes me want to write myself lol

It’s probably not just the article to be fair; the net effect of reading lopatto articles over time imo is to see writing as a beautiful vocation.

Irl equiv of getting his his Diablo account boosted lol

If he could try to see the titanic in a paper mache sub that would be great for all of us tbh

I’ve soured on a Ezra over the last few months for the Kirk stuff just like you. He’s not a Epstein defender though. Like come on.
November 13, 2025 at 3:48 PM
Ezra doesn’t deserve this. 😒

Not even the terrible Kirk takes justify it.
November 13, 2025 at 2:55 AM
More like it was Helen fucking Andrews

There’s a book minimum in pointing out that she keeps saying vile shit and still has access to all this prestige

It’s maddening
November 6, 2025 at 3:22 PM
As to being politically homeless, imo left of centre voters can and will just swing back to the NDP if Carney governs to far to the right. He is taking people who care about climate change for granted with this budget at the very least.
November 5, 2025 at 12:24 PM
I’m not so sure he can. I will be surprised if he can keep his caucus together, much less convince enough other parties to vote for the bill.

He has 0 margin for error wrt the votes.
