🌋 Etna Update – Aug 20, 2025
INGV reports a new effusive vent opening at ~3200 m on the S flank of the SE Crater, feeding a lava flow toward the ŚW.
Effusive activity continues from vents at ~3100 m and 2980 m. Strombolian explosions and ash emissions persist, dispersing quickly in the atmosphere.

The effusive vent at 2980 m is still active, feeding a lava field with tunnels and small vents. Strombolian explosions continue at SE Crater, with occasional reddish ash from Bocca Nuova.

Tremor is rising but still moderate.

#INGV reports that the lava flow observed yesterday is no longer active, with a significant decline noted last night. However, Strombolian activity continues at the SE Crater, producing sporadic ash emissions and ballistic ejecta falling within the crater rim.

🌋 Episode #30 of the #Kilauea eruption started in the early morning of August the 6th and is characterized by 45-90 m lava fountains as well as lava flows that have covered about 20% of the #Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor

🌋 The Krasheninnikov volcano in Kamchatka has erupted for the first time since 1550, according to Russian scientists.
Ash plume has reached 5–6 km altitude and is drifting east over the Pacific.

🌋 Explosive activity continues at #Lewotobi-Laki-Laki volcano with moderate to high energy. Yesterday’s eruption (Aug 1) sent an ash plume ~11 km high, with volcanic lightning visible. A no-entry zone remains in place within 8 km of the crater.
