Which period you going for?1930s -> The Rocketeer. 1940s->Captain America (bonus is they’re the same director). Late 1800s London -> Sherlock Holmes with RDJ. If looking for some decade hopping (30s-50s depending on story) mystery solving, there is the Nero Wolfe series starring Maury Chakin
