We discuss the unique context of urban hydrology, with unique challenges, opportunities, and - we propose - responsibilities for scientists working in this space. We highlight the need for interdisciplinarity, a new conceptual organization, building a community of practice, and enhanced impact. 3/5

I'm behind on reading since becoming an academic parent/Science Twitter tanked but I wonder if this is where AI/ML can be useful and who is doing that work?

A deeply insightful ecologist and naturalist (working for NPS mind you) once noted to me that the cumulative indirect effects of climate change greatly outweigh the (more easily measured) direct effects.

Ps many of the direct effects too are not all that easy to measure!

As I've retreated back into analog world in this time of surveillance, my students are increasingly reliant on AI and I'm too feeling the pressure and pull to do more with less time and resources.
The irony of my increased carbon footprint and capital towards tech isn't lost on me...
