Managed to convert the pet controller to a rigidbody system, so now they can be picked up and carried and flung around

Also squeezed in a genetics/reproduction system before getting super sick and being knocked out for the rest of the week

Stress testing is fun though

I added an option to disable the background transparency and now it looks like one of those fake operating systems you see in random TV shows

Added a goal oriented AI system to the pets so they can think for themselves now, and to keep an eye on their new behaviors I added a button that seamlessly transitions from the desktop to a fullscreen 1st-person mode so you can chat with them and explore their world

Wanted to get some UI programming practice in so I spent the last week putting together a rough prototype for a game about looking after little creatures that live in a crystal ball on your desktop with a sort of TCG-esque menu aesthetic and now I'm kinda obsessed with it

Day 25

Didn't do much today. Fixed the scale on most of the props, but did start experimenting with global illumination. VoxelGI is simple enough to set up and has decent performance, compared to SDFGI and helps to make the lights in dark scenes look so much better.

Belated Day 24

Finally able to get back into this, trying to create an actual scene now with actual props and realising how tricky scale is to get right from a gods-eye perspective in the editor. Not only do I need to rescale all these props but I need to reshape the whole room too

Day 23

Getting the basic textures in to try and find the right vibe for the room. This is still all just CSG shapes but I'm actually pretty stoked with how its looking so far. Even did a little background blockout outside. Just need to start adding some props and smaller details.

Learning about weight painting has given me a whole new perspective on topology and why it's actually important, also helps me understand why 'good topology' is actually good
