Mabel had knee surgery 8 weeks ago for a torn ligament. She had been confined to doggie jail since and it’s been rough on her. No jumping, no playing. Well she has now been released from doggie jail with a clean bill of health. So we can now let up on the sofa for cuddles. She’s so happy!

This is Tex. He was our first rescue. Tex was a wonderful pup but, later, developed leukemia. He was one of a kind. The other is Mabel. She’s our newest rescue. She is not Tex but a unique bundle. She has her own health issues but her love shines as bright as Tex’s. When you are ready, love waits.

On a cold Chicago winter night,
The clouds reflect the city’s light.
Slightly disturbed at such a sight
But knowing all will be just right.

I am amazed at the outrage over a rainbow. From MAGA getting offended to Ron Disappointment in FL painting over the rainbow crosswalk, both have lost the beauty of a gift from both nature, religion and science. Regardless of what you believe, rainbows are beautiful and remind us we belong.

When the sun glimmers on the lake, can you stay sad? I can’t.

This is one of my favorite photos. I took it going on a business trip. I find little joys where I can.

Our Mabel’s knee surgery checkup was terrific. Only about 4 more weeks until we can release her from the doggie pen we have set up in our living room. Then she can go to doggie day care and romp with her friends again! Yay!

Knee surgery blues. Doing good but still healing.

On her most recent walk, my thoughts ran away, imagining life without her. She’s young so that’s not likely to happen any time soon. But… the thought saddened me greatly. I sat with her for a bit and she kissed away the sadness. She’s the best.

This is what I did on my summer vacation. Can I hand in my essay now?

Chain O’ Lakes in Waupaca, Wi. My Dad and ancestors are from here. I spent many summers here. My happy place.

Good morning from our little lake retreat. This feeds my soul.

Mabel just catching a snooze.

Mable just called catching a snooze.

Mabel loves us. Unless it’s hot, humid and she’s tired.

Mabel pauses to give her opinion of lil’ Donny Dump-pants.

Even in the heat of almost summer, Mabel still enjoys playing with friends.

My girl, Mabel, when she was 4 months. Now, she’s an old gal of 18 months! Oh how they grow.

No Kings march in Chicago then relaxing over cocktails. Dichotomy. Cloudy at first then beautiful blue skies. Again, dichotomy. Odd day yet satisfying.

Mabel, my splooty dog, whacked out on drugs. She has ACL issues so she needs downtime after a day playing with her friends.

I missed #TongueOutTuesday so here’s Mabel weighing in on the subject.

Tex (a rescue from Texas) passed away almost 2 years ago from the same, canine lymphoma. Mable is a different pup and we love her. But I still miss this guy terribly.

She’s beautiful! I call my dog MissyMoo. She’s a rescue, part American Staffordshire and part unknown. But I’ve always said she has a head like a cow! Hence my nickname for her. Here’s Mabel.
