En España es donde más decae el interés por las noticias. Para mí tiene que ver:
- Políticos con declaraciones insustanciales o muy agresivas, que los medios solo replican.
- Noticiarios 'editorializados'
- Medios adaptados a la polarización (+bronca, - sustancia)

This won't be as funky as Spotify Wrapped. Yes, even less so.
But here's a playlist of my top songs from 2024!
It's been a fantastic year for music. So here's my tribute to one thing that actually got better this year.

Spain named an example of economic performance is yet another 2024 plot twist.
The Economist hailed it as the N1 economy of the OCDE.
Couple of facts:
-Spain's suffered 13 bankruptcies since 1500s
-It's got the highest youth unemployment rate in the OCDE

Today @democracyreporting.bsky.social and other European orgnisations launch Nets4Dem, a new initiative to advance democratic innovation and participation.
Democracies should be more innovative.
Participation mechanisms, institutional settings —the building blocks of our democracies don't change.

This term’s stability is not guaranteed beyond the implementation of the amnesty bill. Sánchez has tied himself to progress in two negotiation tables with Junts and ERC, the main pro-independence parties. They expect progress or might stop supporting Sánchez in parliament.

But is an amnesty adequate to redress the conflict in Catalonia? Again, many in the judiciary think an amnesty implies wrongdoing by the Spanish state.
In their logic, unlike the 1977 law, which paved the way for democracy, the current law is not about a new regime saying the old one was unlawful.

The judiciary is up in arms because the deal says two parliamentary inquiries will examine cases of lawfare, the use of the judiciary to target political opponents. Pro-indy parties claim they have been politically persecuted for the 2017 events. Spain's judiciary can’t believe the PSOE ok'd this.

His political goals to open a period of negotiations with Catalonia are IMO correct. Many have praised this, including the Financial Times and The Guardian.
But it's difficult to see an act of "public interest" in an amnesty that comes from political horse-trading. It's not genuine.
