This administration is starting to remind me of a Brian De Palma movie. To wit: The male leads are comically macho, the women are stilted objects - or hookers, ethnic people are trashed, trans people are villains, and the action only advances through menace or threats of gratuitous violence.

Our president just e-blasted an impassioned letter to the editor to our whole community defending current rates of NIH overhead funding. Meanwhile, I’m still waiting on the email blast defending academic freedom and a professor’s right to free speech and due process as per uni policies. Crickets.

Just used up 3.5 hours of this One Wild and Precious Life completing my annual report and faculty self-evaluation. The only revealing thing - as per usual - is being reminded of how much work I do that somehow “doesn’t count” to the counters of the beans. 🫘💩

Know what I loathe? Male scholars who continuously offer unsolicited advice about THE right way to do all things academic. Is it a public service or just one more example of the mansplaining most women endure day in and out? I’d tell you to “Discuss” but I’m not presumptuous like that.

I don’t know what Zuckerberg is thinking - though it seems fairly obvious - but with that weird 3/4 sleeve tee and gold medallion, I’d say expect the divorce petition within a year.

I just hope SCOTUS doesn’t get involved in delaying Trump’s sentencing. It’d be a shame if Thomas had to be helicoptered in from the deck of Crow’s yacht. No one should have their first free vacation of the year cut short.

Here's my take on Kim Guilfoyle's wildly unmerited appointment as Ambassador to Greece. In the context of Trump World, where wildly unmerited elevation is the coin of the realm, I think Kim had to pay a very high price for that appointment. Sex with Don Jr.? Multiple times? Hard pass.

I joined Bluesky about 48 hours ago. The most surprising part of the onboarding has been the many scantily clad young women who have- spontaneously it seems - followed me. So sweet. It’s like being welcomed into a virtual Botticelli painting. I love art history. Bon Soir friends - XO
