New cameras: Duncan Peak Lookout 1 & 2 were added to the historic Duncan Peak Lookout on Little Bald Mountain in Tahoe National Forest. The 1st lookout at this site was built between 1910 and 1915. Today's lookout is the 3rd & was built in 1943. Live view: https://bit.ly/4pfdY0Q

It's not every day we see a buck in a debris basin. This large deer was spotted at the Bailey Canyon Debris Basin - one of three debris basins where seven ALERTCalifornia cameras were rapidly installed below burn scars from the Los Angles Fires in February 2025.

UC San Diego’s ALERTCalifornia program added two AI-powered cameras with views of Lake Tahoe. These cameras scan for smoke in real time, sending alerts straight to command centers—where staff confirm and dispatch crews if needed.
