It helps in like survival hard/endless when I'm rushing to Winter Melons, then I can scale back to just twin sunflowers in 1 row so I maximize offensive space

At high level play (repeat playthroughs, challenge modes) I like to have my first non-sunflower column be Kernel-Pults for stalling no matter what my main offensive plants are, 2 columns of spikeweeds/rocks on the right to filter out the wimps, then Tall-Nuts, and it's pretty darn effective

SO true it's really just a skill issue if you're letting them get close enough to eat your offensive plants often enough that you need sunflowers placed there as a buffer
