I share your disgust. I remember reading Franklin books to my son and discussing their positive messages. Of course everything the current US regime touches becomes evil and ugly. We will not allow them to kidnap and co-opt our turtle.

I understand the sentiment, but Franklin is a beloved children's book character, he stands for kindness, empathy and inclusiveness. Hegseth's use is horrible (and illegal itself) but I don't think it's helpful for the other side to portray Franklin as a criminal.

Canadians will not be complicit and allow our beloved children’s icon to be used as a symbol of war crimes and the slaughter of innocent people.
Keep your evil hands away from our turtle (and our country too).

He might as well ask the GOP to vote early and often. It feels like he wants to do that.

Hegseth knows nothing. Franklin (the book and TV series) is Canadian. 🇨🇦 He would never be allowed to own a gun like that. Also the stories are about promoting prosocial behaviour, not committing war crimes.

Lol Franklin is a Canadian creation by Paulette Bourgeois. I'm thinking the next title might be, "Franklin Sues a Dumbass Secretary of Defense."

Put another way, every crime this woman commits makes her more dangerous—not less. Every crime Pete commits makes him more dangerous—not less. So as much as we can say that these are criminals who in a healthy democracy would be incarcerated, in the world we live in they're more dangerous than ever.
