Officially announcing my art course for capturing likeness!
I love this trend, I had to take a break and try it ❤️
I decided to stick with only animated characters just to make drawing them faster.
I don't see myself in all of my favorite characters but there are definitely a few.
And thats one thing for photo realism, but when they're supposedly being judged on their own drawing skills.... its not like any old tattoo back home.
But honestly the references used on this show seem to have no restrictions. One guy had to redo a design he already did twice. His third drawing was a MASSIVE jump in improvement in anatomy. He did not draw that.
The worst part is the people using it so far have shown they can draw decent! Why not just draw it! I hope there's some rule in place in the future because it sucks seeing slop put onto people with no thought. And them being praised for art they did not create.
There's some hacks using ai references on this season of Inkmaster. One tattooed an ai hedgehog with a staff in its hand, but no arm 💀 he couldn't say why he "forgot" it.
I felt thisss. Like something was off but in that Netflix way
There’s also some super obvious and distracting ADR that I would love to know the reasons behind.
I wonder if it was to differentiate it from the 90s version. And him wanting to do the mother lover, same actress, thing without retreading on incest, like in Crimson Peak. (even though this would be a sister like-ward situation)
Frankenstein SPOILER thoughts
.
The creature: I think I’m in team “he should he hideous”, but, his parts of the story were my favorite. Even if I think we went a bit superhero with the powers at the end.

Side note: creature, my guy, stop ripping people in half and CLOSE THE HUT DOOR
*still had me feeling like she should have been around more.
I had the same feeling! The first thing I said was, I feel like there’s a directors cut somewhere.
another thought as I’m watching: I had a hard time reconciling the unsubtle nature of the genre with the unsubtle execution of some of the storytelling. Like Victors fatherhood parallel. Like, I really don’t know how I feel about some of the writing.
Sorry for all the typos, I have a bad habit of not proof reading these before posting 😅 hopefully you get the idea.
I agree that he wasn’t the only one, but I guess for me he’s the only one that didn’t quite pull it off.
Over all, I’d consider it my 3rd favorite Del Toro film. After Pan’s Labyrinth & Crimson Peak. And one I’m sure I’ll watch every year, and find more to love each time.
