Maybe he shouldn't have made the choice to live his life in such a way that so many people would celebrate its abrupt conclusion? 🤔

And using those words to do what he had done for near all his entire legacy,

Blaming a minority he personally hates and using disgusting, violent rhetoric to justify violence and further oppression of said groups.

Kirk was a horrible human being and it is okay to like that he died.

Turning Point USA made a literal watch list of professors, primarily women, queer folks and people of color, and made us targets of political violence. I’ve received hate mail and harassment and death threats off and on for nearly a decade in part due to that man’s organization so 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is a Melissa Hortman appreciation account for the next 24 hours.
Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman remembered as funny, savvy and 'a true leader'
Friends and colleagues remembered her as grounded, kind and compassionate.

I don't remember seeing any calls for violent retribution after a Minnesota state senator was assassinated, and it would have been nice not to see any today.

rarely have I more acutely felt the dynamic by which Dems are held responsible for the rhetoric of every random left-leaning person on the internet and Republicans are not even asked to answer for their own personal words

I’d think what you’d want during a highly volatile, politically polarized time marked by violence is a president who can appeal to our common values and humanity and inspire calm and unity, rather than promising revenge.

If you cared about the collective well-being of the country, that is

From Nate's new blog post "What is Blueskyism?"

Nate, if you've been trending on Twitter for a decade, maybe the problem isn't with Bluesky.
What is Blueskyism?
And why is it so toxic for political persuasion?

I used to read books like Lord of the Rings or watch movies like Star Wars and think the villains were unbelievable. And of course, now watching the tech oligarchs (who could not spend all their money if they tried) destroy civilization for power, I’m like, guess I was wrong. People are that awful.

Look at this graph.

The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened.

This is why we must build back union power.

The US intentionally excludes trans people from travelling. Rachel Lawson calls on the @drupalassociation.bsky.social to consider hosting #DrupalCon in a different country rather than exclude a large number of people from our community.

The Open Source community has been through some interesting times over the last five years. COVID19 created a situation where many of our community who were at greater risk of its effects were effectively denied access to in person events. The community did a lot, frankly not enough at times, to facilitate access with things like mask mandates, remote participation etc. Now, we find another barrier to participation – extreme politics.

@drupalassociation.bsky.social At future DrupalCons, can people's names please be printed on both sides of their badges? As far as I can tell, literally everyone I've met in Atlanta is named Material+.

The millennial experience is growing up with the internet, and watching it go from a free, open, democratic, and eclectic ecosystem to a wasteland of five websites controlled by billionaires, and now seeing it quickly fill up with AI-generated slop.

I want our World Wide Web back.

Every anti-trans-care argument falls apart when you ask why it doesn't apply to any other medical decision
this is an argument for banning both all plastic surgery and knee replacements
Kavanaugh obsessed over trans people "regretting" their decision to transition and that being a state interest.

Setting aside the fact that the rate of "regret" is very low, it's not the state's job to protect people from regret.

This is an argument for the ultimate nanny-state.
