#Excalibur (1981) compresses a thousand years of Arthur into one cursed symbol, the sword as identity and the kingdom as an ideal that rots under human imperfection. It distills Malory’s version into archetype, and a functional bridge to science fiction, sword and sorcery, and superhero comics.

#Superman #400, 1984 is really worth looking at because we had a collection of one page pinups from some 20th century comic book greats including Bill Sienkiewicz, Brian Bolland, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Howard Chaykin, Walt Simonson, Jack Davis, Will Eisner, and Bernie Wrightson.
