Expanding on this, and addressing the most common reply:
The fan theory “James Bond is just a title” is ALSO continuity and ALSO unnecessary.
Batman (1966), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Batman (2022) are all JUST BATMAN, and that’s FINE.
You can just have the character exist in different eras.
